VenaSeal™ Treatment

VenaSeal™

Approved by the FDA in 2015, VenaSeal™ is a cutting-edge procedure used to treat venous reflux that causes varicose veins, thereby eliminating them. It uses a special medical grade adhesive to permanently and immediately close off damaged vessels so that blood flow can naturally reroute to healthy veins.

Who is an Ideal Candidate for VenaSeal™?

The majority of people who suffer from symptomatic varicose veins are candidates for VenaSeal™. If you experience pain, swelling, throbbing, itching, or other discomforts from your varicose veins, this treatment might be an option for you. Your vein specialist will review your medical history and your condition to determine if you’re a candidate for this treatment.

The VenaSeal™ Procedure

A special, small catheter is inserted into the leg by way of a needle stick, usually near the ankle or lower leg. The catheter is then threaded into the affected vein, guided by ultrasound. The doctor then uses the specialized delivery system to push small amounts of the VenaSeal™ adhesive into the damaged vein as the catheter is pulled along the vein. Gentle pressure will be applied following the adhesive application to make sure the vein closes.
